Welcome to my literacy portfolio web site!

This home page is created for teachers and future teachers who are interested in portfolios.  I will help you become familiar with the portfolio system, and help guide you toward the creation and management of a student literacy portfolio for your elementary school classroom.  Here you will be able to access ideas and get tips you can work with.  This website was created as a starting point, and by using your own creativity you can put your own personal spin on the creation of a portfolio that fits perfectly into your classroom.  This website will help have your portfolio have its own special touches and become something personal, to you, that will work with your unique style and goal.

Since portfolios have many definitions it is important to know that this is not the only way to create a portfolio system for your classroom.  After researching different kinds of portfolio systems I found many aspects from all kinds of portfolios.  I am including the areas I liked the most and feel are most important for students and teachers.

Since this is my opinion of what I feel the most important aspects of different kinds of portfolios are, you may disagree with me.  This is website is used to give you some insight into the portfolio system.  You can refer here when creating your own portfolio to get tips and help manage the portfolios in your classroom.

According to Manning and Manning in the article Managing Literacy Portfolios, while teachers may be finding themselves "going crazy, they've never felt so good about the assessment and evaluation procedures in their classroom."  Which lets you know portfolios are liked by many teachers, and it has been found in that article that teachers are having the most trouble "finding the time to do everything."  Hopefully this website will give some pointers to help make the process less stressful.
